Editorial Policy

1. Editorial mission

Fun Math Kids exists to make early and middle-years mathematics feel approachable. Everything we publish is free to use, requires no account, and carries no advertising aimed at children. Our editorial goal is narrow and practical: a child should be able to open any activity and practise a specific maths skill that matches their age and school year, and a parent or teacher should be able to see who wrote it and who checked it.

2. Educational standards

Every game and worksheet is mapped to both an age band and one or more school grades before it is published. We publish across five age bands, from Tiny Explorers (ages 2 to 4) through to Young Geniuses (ages 13 to 14), and across nine grade levels from kindergarten to grade 8. You can browse the same material either way — by age band from the games and worksheets libraries, or by school year from maths by grade.

Where an activity states a curriculum alignment, that alignment is named on the activity's own page rather than claimed generally across the site.

3. How content is created

Every activity moves through the same three steps before it goes live:

1. Authoring. A named author writes the activity: the skill it targets, the questions or mechanics, the age band, and the grade mapping.
2. Independent review. A different named reviewer checks it. The author and the reviewer are never the same person, so nobody signs off their own work.
3. Publication with attribution. The activity goes live carrying both names, each linking to a full profile.

4. Educational accuracy

Accuracy checking is part of review, not an afterthought. Reviewers check that the mathematics is correct, that the difficulty genuinely matches the stated age band and grade, and that instructions are readable by the children the activity is aimed at.

Printable worksheets are generated at five difficulty levels, and every one can be downloaded with a matching answer key so that whoever is supervising can check the work without having to solve it themselves.

5. Expert review

Reviewers are assigned by the age of the audience rather than at random, because the two ends of our range need different expertise:

• Early years — Tiny Explorers and Little Learners content is reviewed by our Child Development Reviewer, focusing on developmental appropriateness, instruction length, and cognitive load for very young children.
• Upper grades — Smart Starters, Logic Masters and Young Geniuses content is reviewed by our Mathematics Reviewer, focusing on mathematical correctness, notation, and curriculum fit.

6. Author responsibilities

Authors are accountable for the material that carries their name. That means getting the mathematics right, writing instructions a child in the target age band can actually follow, mapping the activity honestly to an age band and grade, and responding when a correction is raised against their work. Author credentials are published on each author profile.

7. Review frequency

No activity is published without review. Each activity also records the date it was last updated, which is shown on its page, so you can always see how current a given item is.

Beyond that first review, we revisit content when a correction is reported, when a curriculum mapping changes, or when we revise an activity's questions or mechanics.

8. Corrections

If you find a mathematical error, a mis-stated grade level, a confusing instruction, or anything else that looks wrong, please tell us. Email funmathkidsteam@gmail.com or use the contact page, and include the name or link of the activity.

Reports are passed to the reviewer responsible for that age band. Where we find a genuine error we correct it and update the activity's last-updated date. Where we conclude the content is correct as written, we will say so and explain why.

9. Use of AI tools

Whatever tools are involved in producing an activity, the accountability does not change: every game and worksheet on this site is attributed to a named human author and checked by a different named human reviewer before it is published, and both names are shown publicly on the activity. No activity is published on the strength of automated generation alone, and no automated system has final sign-off.

10. Child safety and educational integrity

Our audience includes children as young as two, which shapes what we will and will not do. Fun Math Kids has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not ask children for personal information. There is no chat, no messaging, no user-generated content, and no way for one visitor to contact another. We do not serve behavioural advertising to children. Progress data such as XP and badges stays in the browser on your own device.

On the editorial side, integrity means we do not overstate what an activity teaches, we do not label content as suitable for an age band it has not been reviewed for, and we do not use engagement mechanics designed to keep a child playing past the point of usefulness.
