About Vectors MCQ
Vectors MCQ gives upper-secondary learners practice with the fundamentals of vectors: notation, magnitude and resultants. Each question asks the student either to find the magnitude of a vector, using the result that the magnitude is the square root of the sum of the squares of its components, or to find the resultant of two vectors by adding their components, choosing the correct answer from four options. Vectors are a core part of the Grade 8 to 9 geometry and algebra strands across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and they are essential for later work in mechanics, coordinate geometry and physics. The magnitude calculation is a direct application of Pythagoras in a new setting, and the vectors are chosen so magnitudes come out as whole numbers, letting students focus on the concept. The multiple-choice format suits the topic well because the distractors are built around common errors, such as adding components when finding magnitude or subtracting when finding a resultant, which helps students recognise and avoid them. - Encourage them to turn shapes around and look from different angles — literally, with a real object if there is one.

- Watch out for
- Thinking a rotated square is a "diamond", or that size changes what a shape is. Turning a real cut-out shows it is the same shape.
