About Differentiating Polynomials True/False
Differentiating Polynomials True/False gives ambitious upper-secondary learners a first taste of calculus through the power rule for differentiation. Each question presents a polynomial together with a claimed derivative, and the student decides whether the differentiation is correct. The power rule — that the derivative of x to a power is the power times x to one less than that power — is the foundation of differential calculus, an enrichment and early high-school topic across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and the gateway to gradients, rates of change and optimisation. The true-or-false format is ideal for a first encounter because it asks students to verify a derivative rather than produce one from scratch, which means checking that each term has been differentiated correctly: that the powers and coefficients have been handled properly. - Before you start
- Find a calm few minutes with no rush. Let your child know it is fine to find some of it tricky — that is what practice is for.
