About Linear Sequences Grid
Linear Sequences Grid gives Grade 7 learners practice with arithmetic sequences, where each term increases by a constant amount. Each worksheet shows a position-and-term table with some terms missing, and the student works out the common difference and fills in the gaps. Recognising and continuing linear sequences is a core Grade 7 expectation across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and it is the foundation for finding nth-term rules and understanding linear functions later. Presenting the sequence as a table linking each position to its term makes the structure clear and helps students see that the same step is added each time, the key idea that defines a linear sequence. Filling in missing terms, rather than just continuing a list, encourages students to use the common difference flexibly, working forwards and backwards along the sequence. The five levels vary the starting term and the common difference so the worksheet stays fresh and reusable. Each page prints cleanly on a standard A4 sheet, and every level downloads with its own answer key giving the missing terms. There is no advertising and no sign-up. A hand for grown-ups
- Before you start
- Find a calm few minutes with no rush. Let your child know it is fine to find some of it tricky — that is what practice is for.
- While they work
- Sit nearby but let them lead. If they get stuck, ask "what could you try?" rather than giving the answer — the thinking is the point.
- Afterwards
- Ask them to show you one they found easy and one they found hard. Praise the effort on the hard one, not just the right answers.
- Watch out for
- Rushing. If answers come too fast and wrong, slow the pace down together rather than pushing for more.
- Away from the screen
- Look for the same maths in everyday life — counting stairs, sharing snacks, spotting shapes on a walk.
