Seventh-grade math (ages 12 to 13) deepens proportional reasoning, formalises rational-number arithmetic, develops algebraic expressions, and introduces probability and basic statistical sampling. Common Core, the National Curriculum in England (Year 8), the Australian Curriculum (Year 7), and provincial curricula in Canada all treat grade 7 as the year proportional reasoning becomes routine.
