About Index Laws Speed Quiz

Index Laws Speed Quiz charges students through a digital power core, where every simplified expression routes more energy through the matrix. Applying the index laws to multiply, divide, and raise powers quickly builds the algebraic fluency students rely on across the secondary curriculum, scored for both speed and accuracy. It is built for ages 11 to 12 (grade 6 and grade 7) with clear instructions, large touch targets, and progressive difficulty, so students can work independently or alongside a parent. Correct answers bring encouraging feedback and a small celebration, while mistakes are never punished and simply invite another try, which keeps confidence high. The challenge grows step by step so it always matches the learner, supporting steady progress across the lower-secondary curriculum used in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. The game runs in any modern browser with no app to install, no sign-up, and no advertising shown to children. Progress is saved only on the device and appears in the Parent Dashboard, so families can follow growth without any data leaving the browser. It pairs well with our Logic Masters worksheets for offline practice of the same skills.

A hand for grown-ups

Before you start
Find a calm few minutes with no rush. Let your child know it is fine to find some of it tricky — that is what practice is for.
While they work
Sit nearby but let them lead. If they get stuck, ask "what could you try?" rather than giving the answer — the thinking is the point.
Afterwards
Ask them to show you one they found easy and one they found hard. Praise the effort on the hard one, not just the right answers.
Watch out for
Rushing. If answers come too fast and wrong, slow the pace down together rather than pushing for more.
Away from the screen
Look for the same maths in everyday life — counting stairs, sharing snacks, spotting shapes on a walk.

How to play

  1. A question appears on screen

An equation with a missing answer — for example "4 + 1 = ?" — is shown in large text. A timer bar starts counting down from 14 seconds.

  2. Tap or press the correct answer

Four answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap an answer, or press keys 1–4 on the keyboard.

  3. Build your streak

Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak counter. A streak of 5 or more turns the flame icon orange and awards a streak bonus to your XP for that level.

  4. Complete the level to finish

Each level has 6 questions. Complete them correctly to earn the full level XP (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP perfect bonus). Your progress is saved automatically between sessions.
