All Tiny Explorers gamesFlip cards to match each domino to its doubled total, building doubles facts for ages 2 to 4.
Every activity is one step. Here is where this one fits.
Double Domino Flip turns doubles facts into a memory game. Cards lie face down; each domino card shows the same number of pips twice, and somewhere on the board is a numeral card showing what those two halves make together. Because a domino and a numeral look nothing alike, the child cannot match by picture and has to work out or recall the double every time a card is turned over. Doubles are worth this attention because they are the first addition facts most children commit to memory, and once they are secure they carry an enormous amount of later arithmetic: near-doubles, halving, even the two times table all lean on them. The pips are laid out in the familiar dice arrangement rather than in a row, so three pips look like three at a glance without being counted, and the tile itself is drawn rather than written as a sum, because a two-year-old cannot read a plus sign but can absolutely see two matching groups. Boards start at just two pairs and grow to four, which keeps the working-memory load inside what this age can hold. Doubles run from one and one up to five and five, so no total ever exceeds ten. A matched pair stays face up with a soft chime; an unmatched turn flips back quietly and costs nothing at all. Every card is reachable by tap or keyboard and is announced clearly to screen readers. The game runs in any modern browser with no sign-up, shows no advertising to children, and keeps progress on the device alone. It pairs well with our doubles and number bond worksheets.
Chosen by the skills this activity practises.
A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 90 seconds.
Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap or click the correct option. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.
Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.
Each level has 4 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
Mapped to national curriculum frameworks so teachers and parents can match practice to school standards.
