About Number Sequence Grid

Number Sequence Grid is a lost-civilization puzzle vault where children restore ancient number patterns to unlock each chamber. Every row of the grid is a sequence with one missing value; the child reads the clue, works out the step, and places the correct number from the answer palette to complete the mechanism. It is built for ages 8 to 10 (grade 4 and grade 5) with clear instructions, large touch targets, and a built-in hint for every clue, so children can play independently or alongside a parent. The puzzles begin with simple counting steps and grow toward larger and mixed steps, developing pattern-spotting, multiplicative reasoning, and the habit of checking a rule against more than one term. A gentle hint system reveals the size of each step without giving away the answer, so learners stay in productive struggle rather than getting stuck. Correct placements bring discovery effects and encouraging sounds, while mistakes are never punished and simply invite another look at the clue, which keeps confidence high. Difficulty grows step by step so the challenge always matches the child, supporting steady, progressive learning across the upper-primary number-patterns curriculum used in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. The game runs in any modern browser with no app to install, no sign-up, and no advertising shown to children. Progress is saved only on the device and appears in the Parent Dashboard, so families can follow growth without any data leaving the browser. It pairs well with our Smart Starters reasoning worksheets for offline practice of the same skills.

A hand for grown-ups

Before you start
Find a calm few minutes with no rush. Let your child know it is fine to find some of it tricky — that is what practice is for.
While they work
Sit nearby but let them lead. If they get stuck, ask "what could you try?" rather than giving the answer — the thinking is the point.
Afterwards
Ask them to show you one they found easy and one they found hard. Praise the effort on the hard one, not just the right answers.
Watch out for
Rushing. If answers come too fast and wrong, slow the pace down together rather than pushing for more.
Away from the screen
Look for the same maths in everyday life — counting stairs, sharing snacks, spotting shapes on a walk.

How to play

  1. A question appears on screen

A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 90 seconds.

  2. Choose the correct answer

Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap and drag, or use the mouse on desktop. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.

  3. Build your streak

Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.

  4. Finish the level

Each level has 4 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
