Tiny Explorers · Ages 2 to 4
All Tiny Explorers gamesStart at a number and count on using finger cues to land on the answer, for ages 2 to 4.
Every activity is one step. Here is where this one fits.
Count On Fingers Quiz teaches the single strategy that separates children who find addition easy from children who find it exhausting. Asked what six and three make, a child who has not learned to count on will go right back to one and count every object twice; a child who has will hold six in their head and count three more. This game practises exactly that move. Each question names a starting number, shows how many fingers to raise, and asks where the child lands. The fingers are shown deliberately rather than hidden, because at this age the fingers are the method, not a crutch to be embarrassed about — the research on early number is clear that finger use predicts later arithmetic fluency rather than hindering it. Counting on is kept to one, two or three steps, which is the range where the strategy is genuinely faster than counting everything and where a child can still see all the raised fingers at once. Totals never exceed ten, so the cue is always physically available on two hands. Answers are chosen from four large buttons, and the wrong options sit close to the right one, because a child who lands one number out has made a different mistake from a child who has guessed and only near-miss options make that visible. Wrong answers cost nothing and move straight on with encouragement. The game runs in any modern browser, requires no sign-up, shows no advertising to children, and keeps progress on the device where it appears in the Parent Dashboard.
Chosen by the skills this activity practises.
A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 60 seconds.
Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap an answer, or press keys 1–4 on the keyboard. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.
Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.
Each level has 5 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
Mapped to national curriculum frameworks so teachers and parents can match practice to school standards.
