About Half Past Clock Quiz

Half Past Clock Quiz is a timekeeper challenge set in a village clock tower. Children read a time and choose what it is called, learning to recognise half past times. It is built for ages 5 to 7 with clear instructions, large touch targets, and gentle pacing, so children can play independently or alongside a parent. Correct answers bring encouraging sounds and a small celebration, while mistakes are never punished and simply invite another try, which keeps confidence high. Difficulty grows step by step so the challenge always matches the child, supporting steady, progressive learning across the grade 1 and grade 2 curriculum. The game runs in any modern browser with no app to install, no sign-up, and no advertising shown to children. Progress is saved only on the device and appears in the Parent Dashboard, so families can follow growth without any data leaving the browser. It pairs well with our matching Little Learners worksheets for offline practice of the same skills.

A hand for grown-ups

Before you start
A real clock with hands beats a picture. If you have one, have it in view.
While they work
Link times to their day — "the little hand is near the 5, that is nearly dinner". Meaning makes it memorable.
Afterwards
Ask them to tell you the time at a few points during the day. Little and often beats one long session.
Watch out for
Reading the minutes from the wrong hand, or reading 3:45 as "3:9". Which hand is which needs regular gentle reminding.
Away from the screen
Narrate the day by the clock. Let them tell you when a favourite programme starts, or time how long a task takes.

How to play

  1. A question appears on screen

A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 60 seconds.

  2. Choose the correct answer

Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap an answer, or press keys 1–4 on the keyboard. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.

  3. Build your streak

Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.

  4. Finish the level

Each level has 6 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
