All Little Learners gamesBuild addition fluency with timed quick-fire sums for ages 5 to 7.
Every activity is one step. Here is where this one fits.
Addition Lightning is a fluency builder for early primary children. The game presents single-digit and small two-digit addition problems in quick succession, with the timer-bar shrinking gently across the top of the screen. Children tap the correct answer from four options. A streak counter rewards consecutive correct answers with a friendly flame icon, and incorrect answers cost no time so children never feel rushed into anxiety. The difficulty grades smoothly from sums within 10 at the easy level up to sums within 50 at the challenge level, and timer pressure increases only at higher levels — early levels are forgiving by design. The game is built on cognitive-load principles: short bursts beat long marathons for fact retention. Use it for five-minute warm-ups before homework or as a calm-down between lessons. There is no sign-up, no chat, no advertising to children, and progress lives only on the device — your child can play for as long as they like without any data leaving the browser.
Chosen by the skills this activity practises.
An equation with a missing answer — for example "4 + 1 = ?" — is shown in large text. A timer bar starts counting down from 8 seconds.
Four answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap an answer, or press keys 1–4 on the keyboard.
Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak counter. A streak of 5 or more turns the flame icon orange and awards a streak bonus to your XP for that level.
Each level has 10 questions. Complete them correctly to earn the full level XP (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP perfect bonus). Your progress is saved automatically between sessions.
Mapped to national curriculum frameworks so teachers and parents can match practice to school standards.
