Factorise Reverse Builder presents factorising as expanding run in reverse, which is what it is and almost never how it is taught. The usual presentation gives factorising its own name, its own worked examples and its own exercise set, and students who have just become genuinely fluent at expanding find themselves apparently starting over on something unrelated. Framed as the inverse, there is one skill with two directions, and a free self-check comes with it: expand your answer, and if you do not get back exactly what you started with, the factorisation is wrong. That check requires no answer key and no teacher, which makes it worth more than any amount of reassurance. The grid asks for the highest common factor first, then for what remains inside the bracket, and that order is deliberate. Taking out a factor that divides but is not the highest is the characteristic failure here: six x plus nine factorised as three times two x plus three is correct, and as one times six x plus nine is technically true and completely useless, and a student who has not internalised highest will produce something in between and not know it is incomplete. The distractors offered include exactly that — a genuine common factor that is not the greatest — alongside brackets that come from dividing by the wrong number.
