All Logic Masters gamesFive gates of multiplying fractions and dividing by flipping the second one. For ages 11 to 12.
Every activity is one step. Here is where this one fits.
Fraction Multiply Divide Escape is a five-gate run through the two fraction operations students find hardest to believe. Multiplying fractions is genuinely easy — multiply along the top, multiply along the bottom, and you are done — and that is exactly the problem. A student who has just spent a year finding common denominators to add fractions is primed to think every fraction operation needs one, and a good number of them go and find a common denominator for multiplication too, doing three times the work for the same answer or, more often, the wrong one. Division looks like the opposite: impossible at first glance, and then trivial once the second fraction is flipped and the whole thing becomes a multiplication. Neither operation is hard. What is hard is knowing which rule belongs where, and that is what a run of five consecutive gates tests in a way that a page of identical questions cannot, because each gate resets the question of which operation is in front of you. The wrong answers offered are the two errors that follow directly from that confusion: dividing without flipping, which is by far the most common, and multiplying the numerators while adding the denominators, a leftover habit from addition that produces a completely plausible-looking fraction. Answers are always given in lowest terms. Multiplication alone for the first two levels, with division joining from the third. Free, no sign-up, no advertising to children.
Chosen by the skills this activity practises.
A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 150 seconds.
Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap or click the correct option. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.
Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.
Each level has 5 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
Mapped to national curriculum frameworks so teachers and parents can match practice to school standards.
Everything you need to know before your child starts playing.
