About Prime Factorisation True/False

Prime Factorisation True/False builds Grade 7 understanding of how every whole number can be written as a product of primes. Each question presents a number alongside a claimed prime factorisation, written using index notation where appropriate, and the student decides whether the factorisation is correct. Expressing numbers as products of their prime factors is a core lower-secondary expectation across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and it is the engine behind finding HCFs and LCMs, simplifying fractions and much of number theory. The true-or-false format is ideal because it asks students to verify a factorisation rather than just produce one, which means checking both that the primes multiply back to the number and that the powers are right, a more demanding and revealing task. Mixing correct factorisations with plausible wrong ones means each statement must be tested carefully. The five levels vary the numbers so the worksheet stays fresh and reusable. A hand for grown-ups

Before you start
Think of it as groups: "4 × 3" is four groups of three. Have something you can arrange into equal groups.
While they work
Skip-counting (3, 6, 9, 12…) is a solid way in before facts are memorised. Let them use it — speed comes later.
Afterwards
Spot arrays in real life together — eggs in a box, tiles on a floor. Rows-and-columns is multiplication you can see.
Watch out for
Treating it as harder addition and losing track. Grouping objects physically keeps the "equal groups" idea in view.
