Little Learners · Ages 5 to 7
All Little Learners gamesExchange ten ones for one ten by filling ten rods with base ten blocks, for ages 5 to 7.
Every activity is one step. Here is where this one fits.
Base Ten Regroup Lab is a hands-on exchange bench. Loose ones blocks sit in a pool and the child moves them into ten rods, exactly ten to a rod, until every rod is full and the pool is empty. Nothing about that is complicated, and that is deliberate — the value is in doing it, repeatedly, until the exchange stops being a rule and becomes something the child has actually performed. Carry the one is an instruction a child can follow correctly for years without ever knowing what was carried or why it was worth one in the next column along. The only reliable cure is to have physically bundled ten ones into a single ten enough times that the digit carries meaning, and this game exists to sit underneath our Column Add Carry Climb rather than beside it: play this first, and the carry in that game stops being a mysterious little number floating above the sum. A running count sits under each rod and updates with every block, so the relationship between the action and the number stays visible. Blocks can be taken back out again with the minus button, so no move is ever irreversible and experimenting costs nothing. One rod is filled at the first two levels and two from the third, which is enough repetition to make the point without turning into a chore. Every control is operable by tap or keyboard and labelled clearly for screen readers. The game is free, needs no sign-up, shows no advertising to children, and keeps all progress on the device.
Chosen by the skills this activity practises.
A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 150 seconds.
Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap or click the correct option. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.
Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.
Each level has 4 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
Mapped to national curriculum frameworks so teachers and parents can match practice to school standards.
Everything you need to know before your child starts playing.
