About Coin Flip Match

Coin Flip Match is a treasure coin museum full of shining exhibits. Children flip cards to match each coin to its value in pence, building coin recognition and money sense. It is built for ages 5 to 7 with clear instructions, large touch targets, and gentle pacing, so children can play independently or alongside a parent. Correct answers bring encouraging sounds and a small celebration, while mistakes are never punished and simply invite another try, which keeps confidence high. Difficulty grows step by step so the challenge always matches the child, supporting steady, progressive learning across the grade 1 and grade 2 curriculum. The game runs in any modern browser with no app to install, no sign-up, and no advertising shown to children. Progress is saved only on the device and appears in the Parent Dashboard, so families can follow growth without any data leaving the browser. It pairs well with our matching Little Learners worksheets for offline practice of the same skills.

A hand for grown-ups

Before you start
A handful of real coins is the best possible resource here. Sort them together before you start.
While they work
Let them make the same amount in different ways — 20p as two 10s, or 10 + 5 + 5. Flexibility is the goal.
Afterwards
Give them a small real purchase to work out — "this is 30p, what change from 50?". Real stakes focus the mind.
Watch out for
Assuming a bigger coin is worth more (that a big 10p beats a small 20p). Handling real coins and their values fixes this.
Away from the screen
Play shop with real coins. Let them handle small real transactions and work out the change.

How to play

  1. A question appears on screen

A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 60 seconds.

  2. Choose the correct answer

Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap or click the correct option. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.

  3. Build your streak

Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.

  4. Finish the level

Each level has 4 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
