Little Learners · Ages 5 to 7
All Little Learners gamesTurn 4 plus 4 plus 4 into three groups of four and tap the answer. For ages 5 to 7.
Every activity is one step. Here is where this one fits.
Repeated Addition Rocket is the bridge from adding to multiplying, and it asks two different questions on purpose. At the first two levels a chain like 4 plus 4 plus 4 appears and the child taps how many groups of four there are. That question sounds trivial and is not: it forces the child to look at the chain as a structure — equal groups of a known size — rather than as a sum to be ground out left to right. From the third level the same chains appear but the total is what is wanted, which is the structure being used to get an answer. A child who only ever meets the second form learns to add the same number three times quickly, which is a useful trick and nothing more. A child who meets both starts to see that repeated addition and multiplication are the same thing written differently, and that is the idea the whole of Grade 3 is about to lean on. The distractors are chosen to catch the specific confusions that matter here: mixing up the number of groups with the size of a group, and landing one group short or one group over. Chains stay short and group sizes grow with the level, with totals kept inside what a Grade 2 child can hold. Rockets drift gently and stop entirely for anyone using the reduced motion setting. Every rocket is reachable by tap or keyboard and announced to screen readers. The game is free, needs no sign-up, shows no advertising to children, and keeps progress on the device.
Chosen by the skills this activity practises.
A maths question is shown in large text at the centre of the play area. A timer bar begins counting down from 75 seconds.
Answer options are shown as large buttons. Tap or click the correct option. Any input method works — touch, mouse or keyboard.
Each consecutive correct answer increases your streak. A longer streak lights up the flame icon and adds a bonus multiplier to the XP you earn for the level.
Each level has 5 questions. Complete them to earn the full level reward (+10 XP, plus up to +10 XP for a perfect run). Progress is saved locally and shown on the Parent Dashboard.
Mapped to national curriculum frameworks so teachers and parents can match practice to school standards.
